About Tanana

Tanana Athabascan (also known as Benhti Kokhwt’ana Kenaga’ (Lower Tanana) and Sahcheeg xut'een xneege' (Middle Tanana) is spoken in the villages of Nenana and Minto by one highly fluent remaining speaker. In the past, it was also spoken in Salcha and Chena Village, near Fairbanks. Middle Tanana was probably a different language than Lower Tanana, though there are no remaining speakers today.
